Every month is a perfect month to visit Charleston because there is always something great going on. Charleston is home to monthly festivals, historical celebrations, beautiful experiences and fun activities for families. I’ve shared a few of my top picks for April in Charleston below!

  • Lowcountry Cajun Festival (April 13, 12-6 PM): Hosted at James Island Country Park, this festival brings Louisiana cajun and creole foods and music to Charleston, and features kids activities and kids food as well. Tickets are $35 per car for entry, food and beverages are purchased on site.
  • Kidchella (April 14, 2-4 PM): Hosted at Freedom Park on Daniel Island, this event is created all for the kids. There will be live performances , a DJ, and food trucks all focused on kids!

April 15-21 in Charleston, SC

  • Charleston Riverdogs (April 16-21): The Riverdogs are home this week in April! Wednesday is Bobblehead night, Friday has fireworks, Saturday is boy band night, and Sunday is MUSC Health Family Sunday. Pick your fancy!
  • Charleston Jazz Festival (April 18-21): Celebrate Charleston’s history of Jazz with multiple nights of music. Tickets are available for purchase for each event over the three-day celebration weekend.
  • Monster Jam (April 19-21): Enjoy the ride with the family at the North Charleston Coliseum and experience a Monster truck show as expert drivers take on the dirt!
  • Charleston Air Show (April 20-21, 12-4 PM): One of my favorite events in April is the Air Show held at Joint Base Charleston. It’s a great event to explore different types of aircrafts and get an up close experience of aircrafts in flight! It is free to attend, but you need to reserve a parking pass to get in. Once inside there is food, beverages, and souvenirs for purchase.
