It’s the fall season, and with fall comes annual pumpkin patch visits! Well, pumpkin everything really. From pumpkin spice lattes to pumpkin themed Pinterest desserts, there is no escaping the great orange fruit (don’t believe me, look it up). Pumpkin patches can be a great time with friends, family, and kids, if you plan, and dress accordingly. There are many things to consider when planning to go to the pumpkin patch, specifically, what to wear for all those scenic pictures!

Considerations for Women’s Pumpkin Patch Outfits

While I’m focusing on women’s pumpkin patch outfits here, there are many considerations anyone should take into account when thinking about outfits for the pumpkin patch.

• What type of climate are you in? Will it be hot or cold? Will it be sunny, cloudy, or windy? If its a warmer climate, consider light fall dresses with boots or sweater tank tops. If it’s sunny and colder out, consider layers, with plaid shackets and lighter tops underneath.
• What is the terrain of the pumpkin patch? I’ve been to pumpkin patches that are covered in hay, so I just end up kicking up dust, and I’ve been to others where I’m inches up my boots in mud. While cute booties may be fun for a grassier or hay-filled venue, the muddier ones could use higher boots.
• What’s your game plan for pictures? Consider if you will be taking pictures at all, or if you need to just dress for comfort. With two young kids, I rarely have an extra hand to capture them, let alone asking someone to take family pictures.
• Who are you going with? Are you going with girlfriends or on a date? Warm up dresses with leggings. If you are going with kids, jeans or leggings and a more comfortable seasonal top may be good for the pumpkin patch.
• How long will you be there? Consider a bigger bag for drinks, snacks, souvenirs, or additional layers. For those going with kids, make sure the diaper bag not only has the normal essentials, but a change of clothes/shoes if the kids get muddy and plenty of kid cleaning products (wipes, hand sanitizer, etc).
